I know it is a long ways away, but I need to book flights soon. I want to be home for Christmas time, I wrote a long, nostalgic, post about Christmas in Rudolph and how I can't miss it, but I left it private on my LJ. I have five vacation days, and combined with normal days off and holidays, I could be home as early as the 19th, but would leave on the 31st.
So, question: are people planning to do anything in cRapids [or Point - I had a great time with Lauren & Friends for 03/04 - or Madison] for New Year's? Or hell, even The Twin Cities - I'm flying out of there anyway. I know people don't know exactly what they're doing, but if I could know where everyone plans to be, that would be great.
Maybe we should plan an outing in the Cities....

Christmas time will be interesting in our house! With a new baby and a toddler I'm sure it'll be crazy. My sister-in-law is also due December 21st, so we'll probably stick around Appleton until Christmas day and then we usually spend that with my family as Jacob's parents come here for Christmas eve.
I'm pretty sure there was an email out about getting together over Christmas time and I think it was to get together at my house. That would work out perfect and I won't have to worry about packing half my life up to take 2 kids to Rapids for a night!

I'm sure I'll be in Rapids for Xmas Eve and day, and probably heading back to the Cities on the 26th. There's a possibility I'll be in Mexico shortly after that, but an equal possibility that I'll just hang out in the Cities after Xmas, in which case, visitors are more than welcome. :)

Jamie's house was perfect last year, IMO. Getting a hotel room or two would also work, because then we could get as drunk and loud as we wanted and wouldn't impose on any families. We could potentially stop in the Cities on the way from Justin's house to my house for a get together.
I'm all for the Mini Apple :) Just because I likely won't be in the Rapids area at all...but, of course, whatever the consensus is I will do my best to be there!
I plan to be in the midwest from roughly Dec 18 - Jan 10. This is what I love about being an adjuct: the three week Christmas. The pay is shit, but at least I can get home for a solid chunk of time.
Anyway, I'll have absolutely no transportation while I'm there as the family is down to one vehicle being that my father is the only driver, but if you kids can arrange a *SUPER CHEAP* outing (note the shitty pay comment; I'm spending all my money to GET to the midwest) I'll do my best to attend, provided that someone can give me a ride.
Personally, I'd be all for a hotel in Crapids or Point or Appleton. It'd be way cheaper than the Cities. But that's just my poor self talking.
I won't be able to stay in a hotel and won't be drinking either - they tend to frown on breast feeding moms getting plastered or those who bring their babies to plaster parties!
You are more then welcome to crash at our place and if it's a weekend we're okay to be loud, but Jacob has to work during the week so we'd have to keep it civil. Our new place is much larger then the last one so space and sleeping areas wouldn't be a problem.
Hotels are overrated, I'd prefer to spend the money on drinks & snacks instead. Location doesn't matter at all to me. If there are any gatherings in the Cities, you're welcome to stay at my place for free (disclaimer: I have 2 cats, so if you're allergic, you might not have fun).
